The Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) Training and Exercise Sections’ goal is to provide first responders, emergency managers, partners in preparedness, with the skills necessary to protect life and property through training and exercising. Simulated exercises of natural and/or man-made disaster scenarios allows for a realistic response to potentially real disasters. One way which we can accomplish this goal is through the implementation of the exercise building block approach including; seminars, workshops, tabletop exercises, drills, functional exercises, and full-scale exercises. To support the development of realistic, all-hazard scenarios, WEM has compiled a variety of HSEEP exercise materials which may assist jurisdictions with the planning, delivery and evaluation of an exercise. Once the exercises are complete the gaps identified during the simulated response will be corrected and re-exercised to best prepare for an actual event.
